Having swine flu stinks. I’m bored and alienated from everyone except my dog. I missed first Friday art walk last night, the protest against the neo-Nazis at the state Capitol this morning, and the local first Arizona celebration this afternoon. I needed desperately to get my portrait assignments shot and developed this weekend… that obviously isn’t happening now. I really needed to finish what’s left of the construction to my sterling silver ring for my jewelry class but I don’t even really have the energy to run to the bathroom everytime I start feeling sick. So I’ve pretty much been restricted to my couch. I let Felix have the bed because he’s been having to wait on me hand and foot for almost 3 days and I thought he deserved it. I also don’t sleep through the night so at least this way if I wake up in the middle of the night I can watch tv if I’m in the living room. I’ve watched a lot of parking wars and house hunters. I also watched stranger than fiction, van wilder and not another teen movie. Not too exciting, but hey… being sick is pretty fucking boring. Watching hgtv is giving me all these ideas for my house now and Felix is probably going to kill me but I’m thinking I want to repaint the wall we painted stripes on when we moved in. I think I want to paint a chevron or diamond pattern on the wall, which is what I wanted to do in the first place but decided against it but now that I have seen how easy it can be done, i think I want to try it.

So for tomorrow my priority will be figuring out how to notify my professors of my illness. I can’t just go to school and show them my discharge paperwork because I’m still contageious for a few more days but I need to let them know that I am sick and I don’t want to be dropped from my classes. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I’ll start feeling better soon. I’d like to start feeling normal again and get back to my life. I miss it.

I have swine flu.

I’m not kidding. I have swine flu and I feel like shit.

I went to the hospital, told the triage nurse in the ER my symptoms, and they whisked me right off to see a doctor. I was seriously from the waiting room to a hospital bed in less than 15 mins, which never happens at the ER. My doctor was nice and examined me and said “I’d bet my moustache that you have the swine flu.” They didn’t do the swine flu test on me because they only do that for people who are in such bad condition that they need to be admitted to the hospital. It’s a 3 day test, so instead he perscribed me some tamiflu, robitusen w/ codene and something for my congestion in my nose. I have to pay a $300 copay for being seen. Shitty.
I feel like a leper. I went to Walgreens to pick up my prescriptions and people parted down the aisles like the red sea. It was probably the face mask that scared them, but hey I either wear this mask or you get the swine flu fuckers.

Anyway I’m home now sick as fuck and I predict I’m going to have a pretty hard time sleeping. One of my symptoms is chills and it sucks. One second i’m freezing and the next I’m burning up. I need to try to stat uncovered to bring my fever down but it’s hard when I feel like im sleeping in the arctic. My fever is 102.4 right now. It’s not terribly high but I don’t want it to get worse.

Anyway I’m gonna try to sleep. Everyone please take care of yourselves, I wouldn’t wish this upon any of you.
